Zebredellas® Website Policies
1. Cookie Policy
Like most websites, we use cookies: small files stored on your device that help our shop work properly, remember your preferences, and (only with your permission) help us understand how the site is used. Some cookies are essential and can't be turned off, since the site and checkout won't work properly without them. This covers things like keeping your basket contents, processing payment securely, and letting you stay signed in. We also use a few optional categories. Preference cookies remember choices such as your language or display settings. Analytics cookies tell us which pages get visited, how long people stay, and whether something's gone wrong technically, so we can keep improving the site. Marketing cookies, where used, help us understand whether our advertising is working and may be set by third parties such as social platforms. None of these optional cookies run until you've given consent.
Various third parties we work with, such as our e-commerce platform, delivery couriers, and payment processor, may also set their own cookies, and they're responsible for how those work.
You'll be shown a cookie banner on your first visit, and you can change your mind at any time using the Cookie Settings link on the site, or through your browser's own settings. Bear in mind that blocking certain cookies can stop parts of the site working as intended.
We'll update this policy from time to time as our tools or legal obligations change, and the latest version will always be here.
Questions about cookies can be sent to karen@zebredellas.co.uk
2. Website Terms and Conditions
These terms apply whenever you use this website or place an order with us, so it's worth reading them before you buy. Using the site or submitting an order means you agree to them, though nothing here takes away your normal rights as a consumer.
Zebredellas® is an independent British jewellery business run by Karen Cronje as a sole trader, making distinctive handcrafted pieces, including plenty of one-off and limited-edition designs. We hold UK trademark UK00003403598 and are a Made in Britain member (0953).
We do our best to describe and photograph every piece accurately, but part of working with natural gemstones and handmade materials is that no two are quite identical. Colour, pattern, markings, texture and even size can vary a little from stone to stone or bead to bead, and that's simply the nature of the material rather than a flaw. Your screen and lighting can also affect how colours appear. If something is listed as one of a kind, you'll receive the actual piece pictured unless we've said otherwise.
Everything on the site is subject to availability. Popping an item in your basket doesn't reserve it, and we don't have a firm contract with you until we've confirmed your order has been accepted or dispatched. Because so much of what we make is unique or produced in very small runs, it's possible (if unlikely) that something sells elsewhere before our listings catch up; if that happens we'll get in touch to sort out a refund or a suitable alternative.
Before you check out, please double check the product, size or wrist measurement, thread colour, any personalisation, and your delivery and contact details, since it's your responsibility to make sure everything you've given us is correct. You'll get an automatic confirmation once you order, though this on its own doesn't mean we've accepted it; that only happens once we confirm the order or send it out.
All prices are in pounds sterling, and you'll pay whatever price is shown when you order (barring any obvious pricing mistakes). Delivery costs and any relevant charges are shown before you complete checkout wherever we can manage it. Payments themselves are handled by secure third-party providers, and we don't hold onto your full card details ourselves.
If you need something made to an exact wrist size, please measure close to the hand without adding any extra allowance yourself; we build the right amount of ease into the design already. Adjustable macramé or elastic pieces may be sized a little differently. We can't take responsibility if a piece doesn't fit because of a measurement we were given incorrectly, though we'll always try to help sort out a resize.
Bespoke and personalised orders cover things like bracelets made to your own measurements, custom bead arrangements or thread colours, initials or names, commissions, and pieces made for a specific event. We might check the specification with you before starting work. Because these are made specifically for you, they generally can't be returned just because you've changed your mind, although this doesn't affect your rights if something arrives faulty, damaged, or different from what was agreed.
Everything on this site, from our name and logo to our designs, photography, video and written content, belongs to Zebredellas® or is used with permission. You're welcome to browse and use the site for your own personal use, but copying, reselling or otherwise commercially using our designs or content isn't allowed without our written permission.
If you send us a review, photo or comment, you're responsible for what's in it. We'll ask before using any identifiable customer photos in our own marketing unless you've already told us we can, and we may choose not to publish anything unlawful, misleading, or that infringes someone else's rights.
We try to keep the site running smoothly and accurately, though we can't promise it'll never go down, and we may need to change or suspend parts of it for maintenance or other reasons. Please don't try to gain unauthorised access to the site, introduce anything malicious, interfere with how it runs, scrape it with automated tools, or use it for anything unlawful.
Where the law doesn't allow us to limit our liability, we won't try to. Otherwise, we're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable when you ordered, for business losses arising from a personal purchase, or for delays caused by things genuinely outside our control, though we'll do what we reasonably can to help if that happens.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and if you live elsewhere in the UK, you'll still have the benefit of any mandatory protections that apply where you live.
Questions about these terms can go to karen@zebredellas.co.uk. Our postal address is available on request.
3. Accessibility Statement
We'd like everyone to be able to browse our site, understand our jewellery, and get in touch, whatever their ability or the technology they're using, and we're working towards the WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility guidelines as our benchmark, where that's realistically achievable. We're not claiming every part of the site has been formally tested against that standard just yet.
Since photography matters so much when buying jewellery online, we try to back it up with written detail too, colours, materials, shape, texture, metal tones, sizing and how a bracelet fastens, so the information's still useful if you can't see the photos clearly.
Some areas aren't fully accessible yet, particularly older product photos without proper alt text, and third-party tools like payment screens, social media, embedded video or review widgets, which we don't fully control ourselves. Where we can choose more accessible options, we will, and we'll raise real problems with the providers where it's worth doing.
If you need something in a different format, larger text, a simplified explanation, help choosing a size, or just want information by email, let us know and we'll do what we reasonably can.
To report an accessibility problem, email karen@zebredellas.co.uk and it helps to tell us which page, what you were trying to do, what went wrong, and what device or browser you were using. We'll aim to get back to you within one working days.
We'll keep reviewing accessibility as we add new pages, change templates, bring in new store features, upload images, or hear from customers who've run into difficulty.
4. Ethical Sourcing and Modern Slavery Statement
We're firmly against modern slavery, forced labour, trafficking and child exploitation, and believe good craftsmanship shouldn't come at the cost of anyone's dignity.
As a small sole trader, we're not legally required to publish an annual statement under the Modern Slavery Act 2015, but we wanted to set out our approach anyway.
Our jewellery is designed and made in Britain using a mix of materials, gemstones, glass, porcelain, resin, crystal, metal, cord and elastic, some of which comes from international suppliers. When choosing who to work with, we look at reputation, quality, where materials come from, how transparent a supplier is, and whether they can show us they treat people fairly. As a small business, we can't always see every link in an international supply chain ourselves, so we try to make sensible, well-informed choices and keep learning as we go.
We won't knowingly buy anything produced through forced labour, servitude, trafficking, exploitative child labour or coercive practices, and if a genuine concern is raised, we'll look into it, and may pause or end a supplier relationship if needed.
When we describe something as handmade in Britain, that refers to the design, assembly, knotting and finishing done here, not necessarily where every raw material originally came from, and we try to be clear and honest about that distinction.
Where we work with independent makers or home-based artisans, we aim to agree terms clearly, pay fairly and on time, respect flexible working, and make sure the work is safe, voluntary and free from discrimination.
If you have a genuine concern about a supplier, material or working practice, you can email karen@zebredellas.co.uk confidence, and we'll take it seriously. We'll keep reviewing this statement as the business grows.
5. Environmental and Sustainability Statement
We think jewellery should be worn and loved for years, not treated as disposable, which is really where our approach to sustainability starts: small, considered batches made in Britain, many of them one of a kind, rather than mass production for its own sake.
A worn cord or stretched elastic doesn't mean a piece is finished. Our repair and rethreading service can replace cord, restring elastic, adjust sizing, swap in a matching bead, or rework a treasured piece into something new, and whether that's free or chargeable just depends on the age, condition and cause, which we'll always explain first.
Our materials include natural gemstones, glass, ceramic, resin, crystal and metal, along with vegan-friendly waxed cord and specialist elastic, and we try to describe honestly what's natural and what isn't, rather than dressing things up.
We keep packaging as minimal as we reasonably can, reusing suitable clean materials where possible and choosing recyclable options, since reusing what already exists is often kinder to the planet than replacing it with something new just for the sake of it.
We buy many components in small quantities and choose suppliers carefully, but gemstone and jewellery supply chains are genuinely complex, so we won't claim a level of traceability we can't actually back up. What we can promise is that we keep asking better questions and improving where we can.
Natural gemstones are a finite resource, and we try to use them with that in mind, valuing the fact that no two stones need to match perfectly to be worth treasuring.
Thoughtful questions from customers are always welcome at karen@zebredellas.co.uk
6. Website Disclaimer
Everything on this site is general information about Zebredellas®, our jewellery and what we do. We take care to keep it accurate and current, but can't promise every page will always be completely error-free, and prices, availability and policies can change.
Where we mention gemstone history, tradition or symbolism, it's for general interest only, we're not suggesting our jewellery can diagnose, treat or cure anything, and it isn't a substitute for medical or professional advice of any kind. Choose a piece for its craftsmanship and meaning, not as a health remedy.
Jewellery isn't a toy, so please keep it away from babies and young children, since small parts can be a choking hazard, and stop using anything that becomes damaged or unsafe.
Where a piece contains magnets, we'll flag that clearly, and if you have a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, please check with a healthcare professional before wearing it.
We describe our materials as accurately as we can, but everyone's skin reacts differently, so if you have a known sensitivity, do check the details or ask us before ordering, and stop wearing anything that causes irritation.
Any links to other websites are there for convenience, we don't control or take responsibility for what's on them, and comments from customers or other third parties on social media don't necessarily reflect our own views.
Nothing here amounts to medical, legal or financial advice.
If you spot an inaccurate description, a broken link, or anything else that needs fixing, we'd genuinely appreciate you letting us know at karen@zebredellas.co.uk
